Wealth Building Controversy in Midst of Political Instability

Creating the conditions for wealth
dark wealthWhy is it that many countries in certain continents have failed to register substantial growth when other parts of the world are developing?  The most shocking thing is that certain continents are the only areas in the world that has experienced a backward turn in development over a significant period of the past one hundred years.

Some people have some unsavory explanations for this phenomenon but I have a totally different take as a person who has lived in the continent. Wealth building is almost impossible in the midst of a political crisis. If we have learned anything about the problems of this continent, it is the fact that political instability goes hand in hand with economic malaise.

What is curious about the case of those continents is that there are people who have been able to make indecent amounts of profits from the continent. How is this possible in a place where political instability is as common as weather variations ? The answer is that unethical wealth building schemes also prosper in the midst of political instability. If you are looking at this issue from the selfish standpoint of a venture capitalist, it will not matter if you ruin the lives of the local people. All you want to do is to effectively manage your wealth and grow it further; if it means participating in corruption you will do it.

A sleeping time bomb
fundamentally economic issuesMany business mercenaries have taken this attitude to the continent. They continue to make very successful wealth management schemes there while the local people languish in extreme poverty. I have a feeling that a boomerang is about to hit them. Political instability does not distinguish between expatriates and the locals. When it hits, it can have international ramifications. That much is clear from a review of the situation that is happening in the Middle East.

The people there have come to the conclusion that unethical wealth accumulation will not be tolerated. This is nothing to do with the leaders in those communities. Rather it is the long suffering people who have taken up arms. I know that this issue is clouded by other religious and social issues but fundamentally economic issues drive all the instability that we are seeing in that part of the world. We can bury our head in the sand and give religious explanations for the issues but the reality is that we are being terrorized by a people who have rejected our models of wealth management.

Conclusion
To make such a point is to invite controversy. The people in the developed world have come to the erroneous conclusion that local people are happy to feed of the scraps of wealth building as long as they are individually bribed. They have foolishly sought to suppress national interests for the sake of international domination. The response is overwhelming and I suspect that defeat is certain in Middle East. We are now talking about making less embarrassing exit plans. How the mighty have fallen? To see the great Empire groveling to some corrupt colonies is something that would bring tears to many. However that is the reality of today’s toxic mix of power and wealth management.
